PM Modi had appealed to the public to give a standing ovation to soldiers at public places.
The Indian Army is having a tough week on the social media with negative PR arising out of the 'human shield' incident from Kashmir. But this video of soldiers getting thunderous applause at the Delhi airport shows how much the general public reveres the Army.
Major Gaurav Acharya shared a video on Twitter that has been going viral. "Indian Troops were returning from a UN mission and landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport today at 0300 hrs. The soldiers and officers were greeted on arrival by spontaneous applause by the staff and also other passengers. I have never seen this happening in India. Reaction to this is simply fantastic, in the Army. They feel honoured and loved," He told The Indian Express. Checkout the video:

Incidentally, PM Modi-- who was addressing a gathering in Bhopal last year-- said that we should respect soldiers who lay down their lives guarding our borders. He said that in foreign countries, soldiers are given a standing ovation in public places when they just pass by. "Can we make this effort slowly and develop a tradition to show respect to our defence forces?" PM asked.
Hope people take a cue from this video and make it a point to applaud the men in uniform.
