Racer Ashwin Sunder And Wife Niveditha Killed In A Car Accident

National Racing Champion Ashwin and his wife Niveditha who was a doctor, were killed when their car hit a tree and caught fire. According to reports, their bodies were charred. They were identified by the number plate of the vehicle. They were returning from a friend's place.

According to the Chennai police, the accident took place at 3:30 am on Saturday morning. The BMW that Ashwin was driving hit a tree and then got stuck between the tree and a wall and a fire erupted. The couple could not get out of the car because they couldn't open the doors and were burned to death.

It took half an hour to douse the fire

People who noticed the accident informed the police and tried to help the couple but the fire didn't let them do so. Once the fire brigade arrived, they took almost half and hour to bring the fire under control but by that time the couple was dead.

Bodies were handed over to Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem

Police have said that the couple lived in Alapakkam near Porur and were returning back from a friend's place in MRC Nagar in Raja Annamalaipuram. The reason behind the accident is under investigation and police have sent the bodies to Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem.

Ashwin was a two-time F4 National Champion (2012 and 2013) and he had also won the MRF Formula 1600 International Challenge in 2010 and 2011.


We along with the people from across the nation are shocked and are mourning the death of this bright young couple. Two lives, gone too soon.
