Her film; Running Shaadi revolves around love and elopement.

As we all know, last year, Taapsee Pannu added a new dimension to her career when she delivered a solid performance in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Pink. Moreover, in it, she worked with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan and proved that she belonged to the big league.

Now, she is back with her next release Running Shaadi Touted to be a romantic-comedy, it revolves around love and elopement. In this exclusive interaction with Postpickle.com, Taapsee opens up about the film as well as her idea of an ideal life partner.

Please tell us a bit about your character in Running Shaadi. How similar is the character to your personality?

It is quite similar to my personality. I was taken in the film because of this reason. Amit Roy had not seen my previous films but when he met me within five minutes he was convinced I could pull this off. As far as my character is concerned, she is a girl from Amritsar. At times, her actions precede her thoughts. This kind of makes her a bit impulsive.

How was the experience of working with Soojit Sircar and Amit Sadh?

This was my first film with Soojit sir.I did not interact a lot with him during the making of Running Shaadi. However, in a way, I got Pink because of this one.

As far as Amit is concerned, he is a very good actor and pampered us a lot on the sets. Moreover, he is someone who can help you improve your performance. This is important for me as I am not a trained actor and  depend on my co-actor and director for feedback.

What is your take on elopement? Why does it still happen in our society?

The problem is that marriage here isn’t between two people it’s between two families. So, there are a lot of people who have a say in a marriage.  Then there are other factors like caste, creed, and religion.

According to the law, once you are above 18, you can marry anyone you choose but it’s sad that even today people are not allowed to choose their life partners. Elopement is the outcome of these factors.

What is the one professional or personal goal you want to fulfill this year?

I have always had only one goal. And, that is to achieve a position where I have a brand value. My audience should say that if I have done a film, it is worth a watch

Who is your support system?

I have a life beyond films. My family is my support system. In fact, I stay with my sister. I know, they will always be there for me.

Who are the contemporary stars you admire?

There are three or four people I admire a lot. They are Kangana, Alia, Priyanka and Deepika.

What are the qualities you associate with an ideal life partner?

The first and foremost thing is that he should be a self-made man. Moreover, he should be honest with himself and his partner.

Lastly, what is your take on the Running Shaadi-The Ghazi Attack clash?

I am happy about this and feel proud of both. My characters are quite different in both these films. Moreover, they belong to different genres. So, I feel, both will do equally well at the box office.
